Salis Mundus, also known as "Thaumaturge's salt", is used to, in a way, "season" the product being created. It generally represents an addition of "concentrated magic" for the recipe.

Salis Mundus is created by smelting a Balanced Shard in a furnace. (As of TC 4.2) Formerly it was crafted from a shard and ethereal essence or mana beans.

Salis mundus is primarily important once the thaumaturge has begun working with infusion. It is most prominently used in infusion enchanting and in runic shielding, but it is also used in other recipes, notably charging thaumium or voidmetal wand caps.
